There aren’t many chefs as famous as Yotam Ottolenghi. The Jerusalem-born, London-based chef, restaurateur and food writer is globally recognised after becoming an incidental champion for the vegetarian-food movement. Incidental because Ottolenghi only started writing vegetarian recipes after being assigned a vegetarian food column in the Guardian newspaper in 2006.
Since then, he’s gone on to spearhead a global movement around vegetable-based meals.
He’ll continue celebrating the limitless potential of vegetables on his New Zealand and Australia tour next year, and chat about his new book, Ottolenghi Flavour, written with longstanding collaborator Ixta Belfrage. Originally scheduled for mid-2021, the tour has been now been confirmed for January 2023.
As on his 2019 tour, he’ll be revealing some of the personal stories behind his recipes, offering insights on the restaurant industry, and imparting tricks for cooking with veggies.
Ottolenghi was responsible for introducing Middle Eastern spices and ingredients to parts of the world that are less familiar with them – things such as pomegranate, rosewater, molasses, tahini, sumac and za’atar. He’ll chat about how you can work these ingredients into your meals at home.
When Ottolenghi is not travelling the world on book tours and filming his TV shows, he is chef-patron of London restaurants Nopi and Rovi, as well as four Ottolenghi delis. His bestselling cookbooks include Plenty, Jerusalem and Ottolenghi Simple.
